The Assabet River National Wildlife refuge is one of 8 NWR in Eastern Massachusetts. It is relatively new, having been transferred from the DOD to the Fish & Wildlife Service in 2000. Prior to this date, portions of the property were remediated, having once been the Sudbury Training Annex for Fort Devens. The western portion of the property is still closed to the public. The Sudbury State Forest is located between two portions of the ARNWR, and the ARNWR is adjacent to the Memorial Forest in Sudbury and other conservation land in the area.

Source Data
There is a good map included with the FWS brochure:
http://www.fws.gov/northeast/assabetriver/pdf/Assabettrails.pdf
However I decided to create this KMZ from the Stow Conservation Trust map at:

See version history below for more information.
Screenshots
This KMZ map is set to Draw Order 25 so it will show 'beneath' your primary map (and beneath my Memorial Forest KMZ map, beneath my Red Acre KMZ map, beneath my Gardner Hill KMZ map, and beneath my Pine Bluffs KMZ map) on your Garmin KMZ-compatible GPS.
The images below are all from a Garmin GPSMAP 78sc. The images on the left and in the center are with no other maps displayed. The image on the right in has the Garmin 24K NE series TOPO map displayed.

Map Summary

Primary city / town zip code: 01776
Other cities / towns in map area: Stow, Maynard, Hudson, Marlboro

This should be the area available for hiking or other recreation, but it will also include any portion of water bodies, marshes, swamps, etc. within the boundaries of the properties on the KMZ. It would also include inaccessible conservation land within the boundaries, such as a buffer zone of "Do not enter" land around a reservoir.
In the case of ARNWR, this area calculation INCLUDES the off-limits portion of the property in the western half of the site.
