UPDATE 07/20/2009: Fixed TYP file number to 927 in order avoid potential issues when using in conjunction with Northwest Trails maps. Added corrections to some trails around Helena. UPDATE 05/11/2009: Fixed an issue with the mapset not allowing you to download data to your GPS. Thanks to B. Morrow for bringing this to my attention. IMPORTANT: You MUST uninstall any previous versions of this mapset before installing this updated version. Simply run the windows uninstaller package. Any further issues with this mapset please contact lampropeltis@gmail.com. Thanks! _______________________________________________________________________________ This transparent trail mapset is TYP'ed for red dashed lines for ease of visibility on your handheld unit. It compliments the road data found in the other two transparent road mapsets for Montana . Areas of extreme detail are Missoula (city trails), Helena(city trials), and the Bob Marshall but the entire state is rather well covered. The map you view in MapSource includes hydro, highway, and city data but what you dowload to your GPS is only the trail data in a trasparent format. Use this mapset in conjunction with the Landowner Topo, Tiger2008(transparent), and Department of Transportation(transparent) mapsets and you will have the most comprehensive and accurate road/trail data available for a Garmin handheld in Montana. NOTE: This mapset includes trail data from the Northwest Trails mapset (http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/27/). The creator of Northwest Trails does not use generic trail data in his mapset because the accuracy of the data may be suspect in certain areas. While Nortwest Trails may be the most percise trails dataset for a Garmin Handheld, there are still alot of useful generic trail data available for Montana. In this mapset I have combined the accurate data found in Northwest Trails with all other generic trail data publicly available.
This image show the scale of coverage accross Montana.
