Source Data

My KMZ map is from the Friends of the Fells map (with permission):

See version history below for more info.

There is a different map available from the DCR (see link above), but I thought the Friends version was better for creating a KMZ.

iPhone / Android / Google Map Links

The links below will allow you to view an interactive version of the KMZ trail map on your computer or on your mobile device (iPhone / iPad / Android). By allowing the Google Maps website to 'use your location' on your device, you will be able to see your position displayed on the Google Map.

When opening the links on your iPhone, don't use the Google Maps app - allow the browser to open the link on the Google Maps website.

Screenshots

This KMZ map is set to Draw Order 32 so it will show 'beneath' the primary map on your Garmin KMZ-compatible GPS.

Note that due to the wide coverage area of this map, it is actually 36 tiles. Keep that in mind when placing this on your Garmin GPS - even though this is one KMZ, the number of tiles is limited to 100 across all the KMZ files loaded on your GPS.

All of the images below are from a Garmin GPSMAP 78sc.

This first image immediately below is with no other maps displayed.

On the next two rows of images, the image on the left is with no other map displayed while the image on the right has the Garmin 24K NE series TOPO maps displayed.

Version History

Version 1.01 (2013 June 6)
Version 7 of Google Earth introduced a new 'feature' - when opening KMZ files, the view automatically 'tilts' to an oblique angle. By specifying the tilt angle (zero) in the KML file, this version of the Middlesex Fells KMZ map (1.01) prevents Google Earth from tilting the view. There were no other changes to the map - so if you don't mind the tilt view in Google Earth, or if you are not using this KMZ file in Google Earth, there is no reason to download this update.

Version 1.00 (2012 Jan 30)
Initial release using undated Friends of Fells map, downloaded on January 29, 2012.
